Ever Wanted to Try Glassblowing? Sign up to our newletter to hear about our next Glassblowing Workshop.

Today (July 19th, 2013) we opened our studio doors to the public to host an exclusive glassblowing workshop.

The ‘Blow a Glass Bubble’ workshop was facilitated by Glassblower Rory Leadbetter who welcomed over 25 participants, both adults and children who each tried their hand at a spot of glassblowing!

Each participant got the chance to learn some of the techniques that go into creating a piece of handcrafted glass. The day kicked off with Noel, whose bubble measured in at a very respectable 32cm!

Rory lead the participants through the techniques involved in taking a gather from the furnace, controlling the blowing iron and blowing a glass bubble.

The biggest bubble of the day was blown by Luke Sutherland, measuring a whopping 36.5cm!

Each ‘Blow a Glass Bubble’ session lasted between 10 and 15 minutes. The event had been so popular; we’ll host some more workshops throughout the year. Keep an eye on our website and or sign up for notices of events and news! For more photos from the day visit our facebook page.
