Bloom in the Park is one of our favourite events of the year! It combines all of our family’s passions gardening, music, food, family time and of course craft! Run by Board Bia, Ireland Food ministry, for more than 10 years now, if you have not made the trip to the Phoenix Park over the June bank holiday you’re really missing out.
We were delighted to launch our new Garden Spirals at the Bloom festival. The Spirals are a new range of garden accessories that will add a vibrant pop of colour to any garden - all year round. The handmade glass installations make a statement in a garden, patio or balcony either alone or in groups of three or five. Designed by Rory Leadbetter of Jerpoint Glass Studio, the Garden Spirals are individually handcrafted at the family-run glassblowing studio. The glass spirals come in a range of Jerpoint colours including berry, seascape, festival, heather, orange and blue exclusively from the Studio shop. You simply pop one of the colourful finials over a bamboo cane or pipe in your chosen spot and watch the seasons and planting change around them year on year. The spirals will add interest to any size garden and we hope people will enjoy them all year-round.
The Garden Spirals were part of ‘The Garden of Sculptures’ created by Ruth Liddle and Ken Folan, an outdoor gallery. This unique outdoor space exhibited work from over 40 Irish artists. Jerpoint has been participating for several years and it was the perfect launch pad for the new garden accessories.
We were also given the opportunity to commission a special centrepiece sculpture for the outdoor gallery in the heart of the Bloom festival. The piece entitled ‘Forever in Bloom’ combined large pieces of bright red glass coiled vessels mounted in a triptych on a 180 centimetre black metal structure - real showstopper!
We really enjoy opportunities like Bloom to create something a little different with the ‘Forever in Bloom’ sculpture; a stand-alone piece that is very different from our everyday range of glassware.
We even spotted this famous face and long-standing Jerpoint Glass fan amongst the crowds - we'll it is his back garden I suppose!
If you would like to discuss commissioning a garden sculpture or want to see our Garden Spirals, please drop out to the studio and gallery or give us a call. Hope to see you at Bloom in the Park, next year!
